This policy explains what Looking for Care and Looking For Accounts store on your device. Read it alongside our privacy notice.
Looking for Care is a trading name of Looking Global Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15944828, whose registered office is Summer Shaw, Cudham Lane North, Cudham, Sevenoaks, TN14 7QR.
1. Why there is no cookie banner
This site sets two cookies. Both are strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for: they sign you in and keep you signed in. Under regulation 6(4) of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, storage of that kind does not require consent, so asking for it would be asking a question whose answer could change nothing.
One other thing is stored, in your browser rather than in a cookie: the list of homes you have saved. It is written only when you press the save button on a home, it exists so that your shortlist survives while you look around, and it is removed when you unsave the home. That is storage you asked for by pressing the button, and it falls within the same exemption.
There is no advertising pixel, no analytics library and no third-party tracker anywhere on the site. Our fonts are served from our own servers rather than from a font network, so loading a page does not reveal your address to anyone else.
If we ever introduce a technology that does require consent, we will ask for it before that technology loads, make refusing as easy as accepting, and add a permanent control for changing your mind. We will not add a banner that does nothing.
2. What we store

Both cookies are HTTP-only, which means no script running in the page can read them, and are sent only over an encrypted connection in production.
Earlier versions of the site set cookies named lfc_user, lfc_session and lfc_group, and stored a cookie preference under lfc-cookie-consent. None of these are set any more. If your browser still holds one, the site clears it when you next visit.
3. Counting how listings perform
We count how many times a listing was shown, opened, saved or enquired about, so providers can see how their listing is doing. Those counts are recorded on our server against the listing, not against you, and they do not depend on a cookie or on anything stored in your browser.
4. Other services a page may contact
Some pages load content from another organisation. Even where nothing is stored on your device, that organisation receives the technical information any web request carries, including your IP address:
- MapTiler or OpenStreetMap supply the map tiles on pages that show a map;
- Stripe opens when a provider chooses to save a card or manage billing; and
- a link to Google Maps or to the CQC website opens only when you click it.
We will not load an external service before consent where its purpose is not strictly necessary and no other exemption applies.
5. Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block ours, you will not be able to sign in, because signing in is what they do.
Clearing your browser’s site data removes locally saved homes from that browser. Homes saved to a signed-in account are removed from the account itself.
