About us

Care homes you can trust, run by the people who know them

Looking for Care is a simple, honest place for families to find and compare verified care homes in England, and an affordable way for care homes to be found.

Why we exist

Finding the right care home is one of the hardest things a family does, often quickly, often at a worrying time. Yet the information is scattered, and many directories charge care homes large commissions that ultimately make care more expensive.

We think it should be simpler. Looking for Care puts verified, provider-run care homes in one place, with clear, verified profiles, so families can search, compare and enquire directly, for free.

How we’re funded

We don’t charge families a penny, and we don’t take commission on placements. Instead, care providers pay one simple flat membership, £75 + VAT a month per home, to keep their listing live and findable. That keeps our incentives straightforward: help families find good care, and help good homes get found.

Where our information comes from

The underlying facts about each home, its name, location, registration and rating, come from the Care Quality Commission — England's official care regulator. The richer details, descriptions, photos and what makes a home special, are written and kept up to date by the providers themselves. We never invent content about a home. (Homes in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland aren't listed yet — we plan to add their regulators' registers in future.)
